The incident occurred near the peak of Giewont, which towers over the popular resort of Zakopane, public broadcaster Polish Radio's IAR news agency reported.

A Tatra Volunteer Rescue Service (TOPR) helicopter was deployed to the site.

A woman was rushed to a hospital in serious condition, while a man and a boy, both of them foreigners, suffered minor injuries, the news agency reported.
