Fire crews were most often called out to remove fallen trees and pump water out of flooded basements, according to public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.

Most of the emergencies were in the country’s southern and northern regions, said Paweł Frątczak, a spokesman for the State Fire Service.

Weather forecasters warned that hailstorms could hit central and eastern parts of the country on Monday.
