Now in its fifth year, the parade aimed to encourage an active old age.

It ended with a picnic during which over-60s were able to learn nordic walking, take part in pottery workshops, rub shoulders with celebrities, and dance.

According to the organisers, the event aimed to showcase the "energy, potential and creativity" of the nearly ten million seniors in Poland while also shining a light on the problems they face. (vb)
