One of the proposals put forward by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the party’s Sunday convention in Warsaw is to earmark PLN 300 million (EUR 69.84, USD 81.5) toward so-called participatory budgeting, a local-level practice which includes citizens into the decision-making process of public spending, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Alongside renovation works to pavements and train stations in boroughs across Poland, Morawiecki announced the construction of open-air gyms, themed playgrounds and sports facilities, which is expected to take up PLN 500 mln, IAR said.

During the event, Law and Justice leader Jarosław Kaczyński, head of the United Poland grouping Zbigniew Ziobro and Jarosław Gowin, chief of the Porozumienie (Alliance) grouping signed an agreement prolonging their United Right coalition, according to IAR.

The gathering is the first in a series of conventions held by Polish groupings ahead of the local government elections to be held on October 21.

A convention of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) and a coinciding gathering of the so-called Civic Coalition, an alliance between Civic Platform (PO) and Nowoczesna (Modern) party, are scheduled to be held on September 8. The Polish People’s Party (PSL) is expected to hold its convention on the following day.
