Traffic officers reported that from June 22 to September 2 there were 6,880 road accidents, down around 10 percent on the same period last year.

Cops stopped more than 23,000 drink-drivers.

Poland’s National Police Headquarters said the main causes of accidents were speeding, failing to giving way to drivers who had priority and dangerous overtaking manoeuvres.
