The three-day event brings together geneticists, sports medicine experts and sports psychologists for talks about the importance of physical activity for human health and the healing power of exercise.
"Research shows that exercise can heal and even people sick with cancer, heart disease, and joint inflammation should exercise because it will make them feel better," Polish physician Anna Plucik-Mrożek said.
She added that exercise improved metabolism, reduced the risk of obesity and a number of chronic diseases, and reduced the risk of heart attack and stroke by 30 percent.
Doctor Sebastian Szmit said exercise improved immunity and quality of life and was therefore recommended in cancer treatment.
The World Health Organisation recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of intense exercise weekly. (vb)
