Belt up, police urge Polish drivers

Polish police have launched a campaign to check if drivers and passengers have their seat belts fastened.

Police will also be checking if children in cars are being carried in safety seats.
Last year officers noted almost 328,000 cases of drivers and passengers travelling without their seat belts on or transporting kids without child seats, according to Poland’s national police headquarters.
That figure was almost 7,500 down on 2016, state news agency PAP reported.
The number of people who died in road accidents in Poland fell 6 percent last year compared to 2016, according to the European Commission. But Poland is still fourth from bottom in the European Union in terms of road safety.
