The nine-year-old boy suffered minor injuries including a bruised knee after being brushed by a police car protecting President Andrzej Duda’s convoy on Thursday, a spokesman has said.

The incident occurred on a zebra crossing as President Duda was being carried to meet residents in the southern city of Oświęcim, according to presidential spokesman Błażej Spychalski.

Duda visited the boy and his parents at their home directly after the meeting, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported on Thursday.

During the 15-minute visit, the president wished the boy a quick recovery and gave him a big teddy bear as a gift, according to the news agency.
