Poland’s ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party would win 37.2 percent of the vote if elections were to be held this week, according to a new poll.

Support for the party slipped by 1.5 percentage points since a similar survey in August, pollster IBRiS found.
Meanwhile, the Civic Coalition, an alliance between the Civic Platform (PO) and Nowoczesna (Modern) parties, is supported by 30 percent. Backing for the coalition inched down by 0.9 percentage points.
The Kukiz'15 grouping was third on 10.1 percent, up by 3.1 percentage points, according to the survey.
The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) could count on 7 percent of the vote, down by 1.6 percentage points from August.
The Polish People’s Party (PSL) was in fifth position, with 5.2 percent, down by 0.2 percentage points.
No other party would exceed the 5 percent threshold needed to make it into the Polish parliament, according to the poll.
The survey was carried out on October 5 and 6 using computer-assisted telephone interviews.
