Wojciech Hermeliński, head of the National Electoral Commission, which oversees election procedures, said on Thursday that all preparations had been made and the stage was now set for the voting to take place.
Poles will on Sunday head to the ballot box to elect nearly 47,000 aldermen and 2,500 mayors and other local government officials nationwide.
A second round of voting, if needed, will be held on November 4.
Run-offs between the two most popular mayoral contenders will take place wherever the winning candidate fails to garner more than 50 percent of the vote in the first round.
