Millions of Poles visit the graves of their loved ones on All Saints' Day on November 1 and All Souls' Day on November 2, often travelling hundreds of miles to their home towns.

Police officers will be supported in their road safety campaign by border guards, military police and road transport inspectors.

The annual “Operation Torch” campaign will this year run from 6 am on October 31 to 10 pm on November 4.

Last year over the same period there were 478 accidents in which 43 people were killed and 551 were seriously injured. Police stopped 1,240 drink-drivers.
