Polish police seize 5m illegal cigarettes

The stash was uncovered by Poland’s Central Bureau of Police Investigation (CBŚP) and customs and treasury officials in the Stare Miasto area, central Poland.

The cigarettes are worth around PLN 3.5 million (EUR 813,000, USD 920,000), according to the bureau.

Officers found 1.4 million cigarettes in a delivery van, then searched a nearby storage facility where they uncovered a further 3.6 million. One man was detained.
