A total of 85 percent of respondents in that age group said they used e-mail, and 70 percent said they used online banking, according to the report by pollster Kantar and the Polish Institute for the Silver Economy (KIGS).

Meanwhile, 65 percent said they turned to the web to compare the prices of consumer products, the study found.

Poland currently has 9.4 million people aged 60, accounting for 24 percent of the population, the country’s PAP news agency reported.

By 2050 the figure is expected to increase to 13.7 million, or 40 percent of Polish society, according to PAP.
