Mammoth bones found on Warsaw metro: report

Builders have found what are believed to be the bones of an ancient mammoth during excavations for a new Warsaw metro station, the onet.pl news website has reported.

"Initial examinations show the bones are 100,000-120,000 years old," the website quoted Warsaw metro's press office as saying.

Scientists from Poland's National Museum of Archaeology have secured the bones of the ancient beast and stopped further construction work until the remains are fully examined.
