Those taking part in the brainstorming session in the houses of parliament agreed that Poland should strengthen its defences against potential cyber attacks, which experts say could prove to be more dangerous than conventional warfare in the future, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

It quoted an expert, Jarosław Tworóga from the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Electronics and Telecommunications, as saying: "More and more devices are working online, and cyber attacks may in the future prove to be more effective than a conventional armed conflict."

Tworóga said cyber warfare could cause massive damage, including the destruction of power grids, factories and equipment, in addition to human deaths—all this without crossing borders or deploying troops.

Poland’s government is finalising work to create a new “cyber defence force” for the country, the defence minister in Warsaw said this month.
