Thirteen percent of respondents in a study by pollster CBOS said Morawiecki had done the most for the country in 2018.

President Andrzej Duda was second, on 10 percent, followed by Jarosław Kaczyński, the head of Poland’s ruling conservatives, on 6 percent.

The head of the European Council, former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, was fourth on 4 percent.

But 53 percent of respondents were unable to point to anyone they thought deserved to be named politician of the year in Poland.

In terms of international politics, 14 percent of Poles named US President Donald Trump as politician of the year.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was second on 5 percent.

Tusk and Russian President Vladimir Putin were joint third on 3 percent each.
