Rescue teams reached five of the eight who had been reported missing, while making contact with another two, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
The tremor struck 770 metres underground at the Rudna mine, owned by state-run copper producer KGHM, at around 2pm on Tuesday.
A total of 32 miners were near the epicentre when the tremor struck, Polish media reported.
Three years ago, eight people died after a tremor at the Rudna mine, in the south-western town of Polkowice.
In December last year, 13 miners, including 12 Poles, died in a methane blast at a Czech coal mine in Karvina, close to the southern Polish border.
