A Polish military jet crashed in an uninhabited area north-east of Warsaw on Monday, according to reports.

The pilot ejected from the MiG-29 plane and was not seriously injured, a spokesman for Poland’s armed forces said.

The spokesman added that jet was stationed at an air base in Mińsk Mazowiecki, east of the Polish capital.

Private broadcaster TVN24 reported the plane crashed close to the nearby village of Drgicz.

Local police told TVN24 that residents were not in danger.

Last year, Poland’s air force grounded its entire fleet of Soviet-made MiG-29 jets after a pilot was killed in a crash.
