Jarosław Kaczyński, the head of Law and Justice (PiS), and Vox chief Santiago Abascal held talks in Warsaw earlier in the day.

Ryszard Legutko, a Law and Justice candidate in upcoming European Parliament elections, said after the meeting: "The point is to stop wild federalisation” that is not mandated by EU treaties.

Legutko added that both Law and Justice and Vox wanted a greater role for nation states in the European Union.

Poles will vote in European elections on May 26.

Poland’s Kaczyński in January held talks in Warsaw with Matteo Salvini, leader of Italy’s right-wing League party.

After that meeting, Salvini said he and the head of Poland’s ruling conservatives had started a dialogue on cooperating in the European Parliament after May’s elections.
