Lech Walesa's son in 'serious' condition after motorcycle accident

Jaroslaw Walesa was rushed in a critical state by a rescue service helicopter after being hit by a passenger car while riding his motorcycle.

The accident occurred near Sierpc, in the central Mazovia region, on the route between Gdansk and Warsaw.

A spokesman for the clinic said that besides the spine injury Jaroslaw Walesa suffered heavy internal injuries and a number of leg and hip fractures.

His condition remains serious but “stable” according to doctors. (ss)
