The latest opinion poll by TNS/OBOP finds the gap narrowing to just seven points between the ruling Civic Platform (PO) and opposition Law and Justice (PiS).

With less than three weeks to go before the 9 October elections, Jaroslaw Kaczynski's Law and Justice has recorded its best results this year in an OBOP poll, with 26 percent of respondants saying they will vote for the party, seven points behind Civic Platform on 33 percent.

Compared to a similar poll taken earlier this month, Law and Justice have gained four percentage points in support.

The poll finds the Demnocratric Left Alliance (SLD) on just eight percent, with the current junior coalition partner, the Polish Peasdant's Party (PSL) on six percent.

No other party would receive the five percent or more demanded by Poland's election law to enter the lower house of parliament, the Sejm.

The amount of respondants saying that they had yet to decide how to vote was large, at 22 percent, however.

The poll was taken between 15 and 18 September from a sample of 978. (pg)
