If the elections were held this weekend, then PM Tusk's Civic Platform (PO) would receive 30,1 per cent of the vote, with the main opposition party – the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) – just one percentage point behind.

The Polish Peasant Party (PSL) the junior partner in the present ruling coalition, comes third with 10.4 percent, ahead of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) with 9.9 per cent.

The newly-established liberal Palikot Movement (RP) has increased its support to 9 percent.

According to the opinion poll 44 percent say they will certainly vote in the elections for both upper and lower houses of parliament next Sunday, with 10 percent saying they had yet to decide how to cast their vote.

The poll was taken from a representative sample of 1500. (mk/pg)
