On the last day of campaigning, an opinion poll commissioned by Polish Radio before the parliamentary elections on 9 October, finds Civic Platform (PO) is on 32.1 percent, just ahead of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party on 29.6 percent.

In third place is the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) on 10 percent, the Polish Peasant’s Party (PSL) is on 8.5 percent and the Palikot Movement (RP) 6.9 percent.

No other party would gain more than the five percent threshold required for a party to enter government, according to the opinion poll by Homo Homini.

The poll, which finds the gap between the two leading parties at just over two percent, is at odds with all other surveys taken this week, and Homo Homini has consistently found the gap to be narrower than other pollsters throughout the election campaign.

For instance the poll by CBOS released today found that the gap between the two main parties is 14 percent, with Civic Platform on 34 percent and Law and Justice on 20 percent. (pg)
