“Prime Minister Donald Tusk has dismissed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Adam Rapacki,” spokesman Pawel Gras said Tuesday night.
The PAP news agency reports that, according to off-the-record sources, Rapacki will be replaced by Michal Deskur, a current advisor to Interior Minister Jacek Cichocki.
Spokeswoman at the Interior Ministry, Małgorzata Woźniak, would not comment on the reports other than saying that details would be given at a press conference on Wednesday.
Relations between Rapacki - who has been at the Interior Ministry since 2007 and was responsible for the nation's police force, the government protection bureau and security arrangements for the Euro 2012 football championships - and his boss are said to have deteriorated since Cichocki's appointment following the 9 October parliamentary elections.
Yesterday, Rapacki would not disclose any details accept for saying that it takes “two to tango”. (pg)
