The Great Orchestra of Holiday Aid will raise millions of zloty, Sunday, in Poland and abroad, in the nation's largest single-event fund raiser.

The fund raising event, now in its 20th year, will be led, as usual, by the charity's founder, Jerzy Owsiak and will receive blanket coverage on public and private media.

Money raised this year will go to purchase equipment for premature babies and pregnant women with diabetes.

Around 120,000 volunteers will be out on the streets and in the shopping malls collecting donations and auctions will be held, with celebrities selling off items to raise funds.

A concert will also be ongoing throughout the day from 14,00 CET outside the Palace of Culture and Science in the centre of Warsaw, culminating in a firework display.

Since 1993, the Great Orchestra of Holiday Aid (WOSP) has raised some 445 million zloty (nearly 100 million euros). (pg)
