Holding banners saying “this is Poland, not Brussels: down with ACTA!,” the crowd was joined by liberal MP Janusz Palikot, among others, who opposed Poland signing the ACTA anti-piracy agreement on Thursday.

An opinion poll by SMG/KRC released Friday finds that 64 percent of respondents opposed the signing of the agreement in Tokyo yesterday with 21 percent agreeing. Fifteen percent answered that they “don’t know”.

As many as 60 percent of those polled thought that ACTA would be ineffectual in fighting online piracy.

Half of respondents thought that feared that international agreements will restrict individual freedoms, with 38 percent saying that ACTA would not affect freedom of expression.

The poll was taken on 27 January from a sample of 1000. (pg)
