Free paper gets Poles reflecting for Lent

A free newspaper is distributed today, Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, at Warsaw’s underground stations and in some of the city’s churches.
Published by the duchowy.pl portal in 100,000 copies, it is to encourage Varsovians to reflect on the meaning of Lent.
Father Andrzej Sikorski, one of the portal’s editors told the Polish Press Agency that the topics taken up in the paper include ‘Does God expect sacrifice from us’ and ‘How to respond to suffering in life’.
There are also interviews with Polish Television news anchor Krzysztof Ziemiec and prominent composer of film music Michał Lorenc, who talk about the importance of faith in their lives. (mk)
