The zoo’s Robert Dębosz displayed the young giraffe this morning, which was abandoned by his mother shortly after birth.
The giraffe, which was around 150cms in height at the time his birth and weighed approximately 50kg, gets through seven litres of cow’s milk a day.
Meanwhile, mayor of the central city of Lodz, Hanna Zdanowska has offered a cash reward for information on identifying vandals who broke into the local zoo and literally frightened two giraffes to death.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, Sunday morning, when the vandals broke into the zoo and damaged property near where the giraffes were being housed. (pg)
