Russian gas giant Gazprom is confident an agreement for additional gas deliveries to Poland could be concluded still this week.
The deal has been discussed by Poland’s deputy prime minister and economy minister Waldemar Pawlak and representatives of the Polish Gas and Oil company (PGNiG) with Russian energy minister Sergei Shmatko during their meeting at the 4th International Energy Week in Moscow.
Deputy president of Gazprom, Alexander Medvedev, disclosed that the Polish side will present its evaluation of the terms proposed by his company on Wednesday. This will also be an opportunity to solve all issues connected with increasing gas deliveries to Poland, he added.
Polish deputy PM Pawlak, quoted by the Interfax press agency, explained the talks relate specifically to the contract which was initially to be implemented by the RusUkrEnergo company for the delivery of 1 to 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas. (ss)
