Car production crisis in Poland has affected all manufacturers, except Fiat.
As a result of worldwide crisis in the automotive industry, Polish car factories have reduced production by six per cent. By the end of 2009, Polish car factories will produce 869-880,000 vehicles, which is 50-60,000 less than a year ago.
“A drop in car sales would have been more dramatic if it had not been for a car exchange programme, which encouraged car owners to scrap their vehicles and buy new ones cheaply,” – says Rafal Orlowski from AutomotiveSuppliers.pl.
Owing to the car exchange, demand for vehicles, especially Fiat, has increased. At the end of September, Fiat Auto Poland produced over 2,300 cars a day. It is expected that by the end of the year Fiat will produce 600-605,000 cars, which is a 22-per cent better result than in 2008, and a record for the whole automotive industry in Poland.
The biggest drop in production has been reported at Polish automobile manufacturer FSO. By the end of 2009 FSO will produce 31-32,000 cars, which is 65 per cent less than a year ago. (mg)
