FDI down in 2009

10.03.2010 08:25

Direct Foreign Investment (FDI) in Poland fell in 2009 in comparison with the previous year.

According to estimates by the Polish Agency for Information and Foreign Investment (PAIiIZ), FDI amounted to 8 billion zloty (400-600 million euros) - 14 percent less than in 2008.

According to the chairman of the agency, Sławomir Majman, the result is still much better than many analysts expected and the drop in investment in Poland less significant than in other countries of the region, including the Czech Republic and Romania.

He added that foreign investors are mostly interested in opening centres of specialized business services, aviation and the automobile industry.

The Polish Agency of Information and Foreign Investment is currently working on implementing 118 investment projects – the number which was one-third lower last year. (di/pg)
