Poland supports Palestinian autonomy

Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, in Ramallah today, said Poland supports an autonomous Palestinian homeland but also a secure Israel.
Poland wants to continue cooperation with the Palestinian Authority, declared Poland’s Foreign Minister Sikorski during a visit to the West Bank.
He also emphasized that Poland, as a country which suffered occupation and population displacement, stands in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. He added, at the same time, that Poland supports Israel's right to existence.
Poland's head of diplomacy met with President Mahmud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
“Poland confirms our will to cooperation with the Palestinian Authority, I signed a memorandum with the foreign minister on political consultation, we will uphold our level of development aid to the Palestinians, as well as scholarship programmes for Palestinian students and training of Palestinian police in our country,' said Sikorski.
Last month, Palestinian minister of tourism and antiquities Khouloud Daibes and Poland’s minister of tourism, Katrina Superyajesica signed an agreement in Warsaw for the development of joint work in the field of tourism.
Later today, Minister Sikorski is meeting with Israeli politicians in Jerusalem. (jn/pg)
