NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen is paying an official visit to Warsaw today, where he will meet Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and National Defence Minister Bogdan Klich.
The visit is part of Rasmussen’s tour to several member states, including France, Great Britain and Germany, in preparations for next week’s meeting of NATO foreign ministers. Issues on the agenda of the upcoming summit include the mission in Afghanistan, next year’s budget and relations with Ukraine and Georgia.
Today’s working visit will take one day, while a more extensive meeting is planned for early next year. The secretary general will then travel to Bydgoszcz, north-western Poland, where NATO’s Joint Forces Training Centre is located. (ab)
