Prime Minister Donald Tusk is to receive the annual Vasek Polak Award in Prague today for services to democracy.
Established by the American Institute on Political and Economic Systems in 1995, the prize is granted to European leaders in recognition of actions taken for the benefit of democracy and collaboration among nations.
The list of political figures previously recognized by the institute includes Czech president Vaclav Klaus, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and Poland’s former head of state, Lech Wałęsa.
