Actress in political ad beaten

09.06.2009 15:58

UPDATE - Police investigations continue into the brutal assault of an actress who appeared in a Law and Justice TV campaign ad.

The actress says she was brutally assaulted in front of her house by a group of young men last Saturday.

Anna Cugier-Kotka, who first appeared in an advertisement for the Civic Platform party in 2007 turned up in the central role in an advert for the opposition Law and Justice, for the European parliamentary elections last Sunday.

Law and Justice leader Jarosław Kaczyński has called the incident “politically inspired” and urged Prime Minister Donald Tusk to find and punish those responsible for the assault.

Minister of Internal Affairs Grzegorz Schetyna pledged that the case will be thoroughly investigated.“The case is already political, or is to be one as Jarosław Kaczyński so wishes,” he said/ “I guarantee it will be scrutinized to the finest detail and I will see to it that the Warsaw police succeeds in doing so. It is in our interests to ensure that such accusations are not repeated.”

It is disputed when and if the actress reported the incident to the police and what evidence she gave to them. It is alleged that she changed the story of the attack – at first alleging one person attacked her then changing the number to three or four. (ek/pg)

  • Stu - NL 10.06.2009 08:06 So because she was only "kicked in her butt" and is a "money loving hypocryte" it is okay to assault her?! Give ME a break. So because you and I don't agree on this issue, I can kick you in the teeth ... ? Yeah, right :-S.

People should be allowed to voice their opinions, or feature in a political ad, whether you agree with them or not. In a democracy we tend to discuss about opinions and not bash in each other's heads.

  • Mac Skiba 11.06.2009 02:33 thats it she was kicked in the butt? of course its not acceptable but its nothing to cause a big fuss about... its not like she was stabbed to death ... the intent was clearly to embarrass her not to hurt her psychically .... Mac Skiba
  • Czarny Kot 11.06.2009 14:33 It doesn't sound too serious but that doesn't make it OK.

As for being a 'money loving hypocrite' it is quite common for actors and actresses to fake it for money.

I just hope she recovers in time for the next election. SLD need her help.
