TV celebrity caught red-handed while taking bribe

24.09.2009 13:39

Weronika Marczuk-Pazura, a TV celebrity known from the popular "You can dance" show, has been caught in the act while taking a bribe.

Last night, Weronika Marczuk-Pazura met with the chairman of the Scientific and Technical Publishing House in a restaurant in the Ujazdow Castle in Warsaw. They both were detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau officers right after the chairman handed the ex-wife of a well-known Polish actor Cezary Pazura an envelope with 100,000 zloty (24,000 euro).

According to the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau, Weronika Marczuk-Pazura, in exchange for bribes, was to offer assistance with the purchase of the state-owned Scientific and Technical Publishing House (WNT) to be privatized in a public auction.

Marczuk-Pazura acted as a middleman between the chairman of the publishing house and an investor. The chairman of the publishing house was to under price the value of the company so that a particular investor could buy it cheaply.

After being detained on corruption charges, Marczuk-Pazura spent the rest of the night in custody and was interrogated.

The Central Anticorruption Bureau learnt about Marczuk-Pazura’s involvement in a corruption scandal from an anonymous informant. Investigators have been working on the case for several months, fixing meetings, negotiating a price for the publishing house and gathering evidence. (jn/mg)

I have noticed that we have two Mario`s on this forum, someone or some organization which is not satisfied with original Mario, wants to discredit him.

The better headline would be: "Bribe with a smile".

Juan,

Don't get me wrong, its good to have some distrust of government and question them, but I doubt Mario is that important or is taken seriously enough by most people that some organization would seek to discredit him.

No offense Mario its not mean anything against you, because none of us on here are that important.
