Flu shots abroad for Poles

19.11.2009 14:42

Government reluctance to purchase additional vaccines against influenza has prompted the National Ombudsman to appeal to Poles for benefitting from available flu shots abroad.

Report by Slawek Szefs

Professor Janusz Kochanowski has asked Poles returning from foreign trips to take advantage of free vaccine shots against the new type of flu virus before coming back home. He reminded that many governments in EU countries have secured such possibilities not only for their own citizens, but also for visitors.

The National Ombudsman also questioned the validity of current flu statistics in Poland, claiming the system of registering and monitoring cases on a national scale is inadequate.

Does anybody know what countries are offering H1N1 vaccination also for visitors? In many countries you need to be resident to get the vaccination... and visitors have been left out. So if you know where this is available, please share your information. Uśmiech

The Ombudsman obviously doesn't know what he is talking about.

Professor Kochanowski still has that communist mentality, get everything for nothing,
you owe it to me!
Sorry old boy put your hand into your pocket and pay for it yourself, the days of a free fare are over!

Nevertheless, I can imagine it's easy to create a panic among the people like this. It's not hard to have the government take the blame for something in the peoples eyes, you just have to use the right words. It's not hard to do, and that's one of the things about politics that pisses me off the most. Be gone with populism!
