09.02.2010 10:23

Earth tremors were reported today in southern Poland, in the regions of Malopolska and Upper Silesia.

The tremors, reported as a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale, were recorded by all seismological stations in Poland.

They were felt within a radius of 15 kilometres from the epicentre near Chełmek, in the vicinity of which lies the Piast colliery, as well as Sosnowiec, Jaworzno, and Oświęcim.

The quake follows a recent tremor in Lower Silesia on 6 February, which reached up to a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale. (ek/jb)
