The authorities of Finland want to employ nurses from East Central Europe.

The Finnish State Institute of Health Care has announced that they will be looking for medical personnel in Poland, Romania and Hungary. Nurses are needed for public hospitals in Helsinki.

The Finnish authorities have reportedly prepared regulations making it easier for Polish, Romanian and Hungarian nurses to move to Finland, settle there, and begin work. At the same time they assure that they will be careful not to deprive Central European countries of medical personnel entirely.

Like many EU states, Finland suffers from medical personnel shortage, due to the aging society problem. At the same time, over six thousand Finnish nurses have left the country recently to work in Norway, Denmark and the UK, where they found better financial conditions.
