Welcome to the last part of our unique survey of all the main political parties standing in the European parliamentary elections in Poland on June 7.
We sent a questionnaire to each of the election committees asking them, in English, what their policy positions were on religion, immigration, enlargement, the single currency and more. We hope that the answers they have given will help those living in Poland who do not speak Polish make a choice on polling day. It may even help Poles make a choice, too!
We have not edited the answers in any way.
Today we ask the parties about their aims and goals in the European Parliament – for a full list of the surveys we have published so far go here.
What main goal do you hope to achieve in the European Parliament?
1. Unia Polityki Realnej (Union of Real Politics)
Slogan: We Bear Freedom to Europe
EP fraction: Independence/ Democracy Group
Our main goal will be to show people the easiest way without bureaucracy, with freedom to doing business with low constrains.
2. Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe (Polish People's Party)
Slogan: Europe’s success. Success for Poland
EP fraction: The European People's Party and European Democrats
Simplifying of the regulations (better regulations) and decreasing its amount, which favour wild usage of subsidiarity principle. In the frameworks of solidarity rule, the following actions should come into being, such as program of the energetic safety union system and crisis response, combination of already existing and expansion of the new energetic infrastructure, which will increase diversification of energy supply. In the frameworks of assurance of food safety, the European Parliament should secure in the budget the appropriate level of financing The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
3. Samoobrona (Self-defence)
Slogan: Solidary Samoobrona in Europe
EP fraction: none
My main goal I hope to achieve in European Parliament is to establish the common social policy for every EU member. There is common agricultural policy already and EU is developing of common defense policy now, from the other side there are huge differences between member countries in social matters.
4. Polska Partia Pracy (Polish Labour Party)
The committee did not send the questionnaire back.
5. Libertas (Libertas)
Slogan: Libertas means freedom
EP fraction: none
Libertas want to change European Union. In our opinion EU a great project, but it needs some changes due to corrupted bureaucracies, money wasted every day and belief of European politics, that Lisbon treaty is necessary. Union should turn back to vision of Europe of Nations and we want to achieve it.
6. Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej – Unia Pracy (Democratic Left Alliance – Labour Union)
Slogan: Put People First
EP fraction: Party of European Socialists
Today the European Left wants every person to have a chance to develop, realize their ambitions and fulfill their needs. We want all people to know and feel their dignity and value. We want all citizens to live in more just conditions in the new Social Europe so that no one would feel rejected and not needed in the society. We want to change the economic direction of Europe to prevent and avoid the crises like we experience today. That is why the June elections to the European Parliament are a big chance for better management of Europe. We hope that the PES will become the biggest and consequently the most influential political group in the new EP. The European elections will be about choosing one of the opposing visions of EU’s future. On the one hand there is a choice of a Social Europe in which citizens, member states and European institutions cooperate to solve problems of citizens, on the other hand there is conservative Europe where the future of our countries and citizens is dependent on the market.

7. Porozumienie dla Przyszłości - Centrolewica (Agreement for the Future - CenterLeft )
The committee did not send the questionnaire back.
8. Prawica Rrzeczpospolitej (The Right of the Republic)
Slogan: Europe of Normal Families
EP fraction: Union for Europe of the Nations
As far as the economic issues are concerned, our main goal is to level conditions in all EU Member States which means ensuring equal access to local labour markets as well as the same amount of subsidies for agricultural produce in each country (in longer perspective our aim is to abolish this kind of subsidies). As far as axiological issues are concerned, the most important goal is to protect Christian values and to block disadvantageous and dangerous trends present in other EU countries, among which it is necessary to mention homosexual marriages, adoption of children by homosexual couples, abortion or euthanasia.
9. Platforma Obywatelska (Civic Platform)
Slogan: Vote Poland
EP fraction: The European People's Party and European Democrats
In the following term the European Parliament must face new challenges related e.g. to the economic crisis, the new EU budget, the energy security.
10. Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc (Law and Justice)
Slogan: More for Poland
EP fraction: a new fraction together with British and Czech conservatives
I would like to focus on the following issues:
- the implementation of a common EU energy policy
- enlargement of the EU by accepting Ukraine, Georgia, and the Balkan States
- liquidation of roaming
- levelling of the CAP founds for all the Member States.
