Today, Warsaw’s National Stadium is the centre of a giant rescue training exercise, with police, fire and ambulance services testing preparation for the Euro2012 championships.
The exercise is to test response, procedures and cooperation of all the rescue services in the city, which is co-hosting, with the Ukraine, the UEFA championships.
Two-hundred-and-fifty people are taking part in the exercise, which is being joined by a medical helicopter, 18 ambulances and a special bus for transporting wounded persons. This is the first comprehensive drill of this size in Warsaw.
The National Stadium, though still under construction, is scheduled to be finished in early 2012 in time for the games. (ek/mmj)
