The American team came to Chorzow and lost to Poland by the huge margin of 8:45. The first half was won by Poland 27:5. The second half almost doubled the score.
The match was the result of the Polish Handball Association (PZPR) signing a cooperation agreement with the USA team a year ago.
So far, the most important achievements of the Polish women handball team include a bronze medal at the Olympics in Montreal in 1976, the third place in the World Championship in Germany in 1982 as well as in South Korea in 1985. (pb)
