Disqualification of a top Polish skier comes parallel with more stringent anti-doping law.
Report by Slawek Szefs
Kornelia Marek was discovered to have traces of erythropoietin, or EPO, in her organism. The tests were made during the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver after the 4x5 kilometers women's ski relay in which the Polish team captured 6th place.
The President of the Polish Olympic Committee appealed for a wide debate and declared total war on people responsible for dope pushing in the sports community.
This comes on the eve of a Parliament vote on the new Sports and Athletics Law envisaging criminal penalties for those assisting illegal performance enhancing treatment.
