Poland stunned by Argentina at volleyball world champs

Poland have lost 2-3 to Argentina to suffer their first defeat after a five-match winning streak at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships.

The match in Varna, Bulgaria, on Friday was Poland's first in the second round of the championships, which are being jointly hosted by Bulgaria and Italy.

The Poles, managed by Belgian coach Vital Heynen, were next due to play France and Serbia as they seek to defend their title.

Poland won all five matches they played in the first round of the tournament, beating Cuba, Puerto Rico, Finland, Iran and Bulgaria.

The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships run until September 30, with the Final Six scheduled to be held in Turin, Italy.

The FIVB volleyball federation is the sport's international governing body.
